Falls and Fractures

When an elderly loved one falls they have an increased risk of fractures.  If your loved one suffers a fracture while in a nursing home, it could mean that the nursing home staff is negligent in their care.

The risk factors for a fall include:

  • A history of falls
  • A heart arrhythmia
  • Stroke
  • Immobility
  • Disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s or dementia
  • Low blood pressure
  • Incontinence
  • Dizziness
  • Dehydration
  • Poor eyesight
  • Restraints
  • Medications
